The full-length CD entitled "Symphony For The Sons of Nam" includes the same content as the LBM release "Buffalo Soldiers", except that tracks 2 and 3 of the piece called "Buffalo Soldiers" is re-titled "American Soldier" and features Carol Williams' original narative spoken by CSI:NY Actor Gary Sinise.
The Symphonic piece "American Soldier" was originally written as a commission for the West Point BiCentennial in 2000, and titled "Buffalo Soldiers". In this version, there is an narrative excerpt from an Abraham Lincoln speech (about the 1857 Dred Scot Supreme Court case), edited by Carol Williams. A second narration is an excerpt of (and edited by the composer) a Colin Powell speech given at a Buffalo Soldier Monument dedication.
On this CD both narrations are performed by the composer.
The title of "Buffalo Soldiers" was changed in 2003 to "American Soldier", to honor those soldiers involved in the Iraq War and includes the original narrative by Carol Williams, and is performed by Gary Sinise.
The work is available in both renditions, with the different narratives.
