Order the four Commentary CD's, "Empty Boots: Commentaries on War and Country", "Hey Joan: Commentaries on Her", "Private Artist: Commentaries on Life" and "We Can Work It Out: Commentaries on the Beatles".
Chicago singer/songwriter and instrumentalist Carol Williams' style of "story-telling" in her compositions is what has earned her a lasting presence on folk radio with her classic "Empty Boots", "I.R. Smith", "Products of Perfection", "Mothers and many more.
She has been described as "a countrified Laura Nyro", and a "feminine Mose Allison", but is generally known for her clear focus on social commentary, her theme-based CD projects (the "Commentaries Series"), and her passion for irony, such as her song "I R Smith" exemplifies.
Beginning in 2008 with "Empty Boots: Commentaries on War and Country", then "We Can Work it Out: Commentaries on the Beatles" in 2009, followed by "Hey Joan: Commentaries on Her" in 2010, her most recent release is "Private Artist: Commentaries on Life". Carol Williams is a US Army Veteran and a professional musician/instrumentalist, but mostly sees music as a way to present "commentaries" on social issues ranging from war, women's issues, and the challenges of life.
She continues to perform at veterans' facilities throughout the nation with the non-profit organization United States Veterans Art Program. For more on this program, go to: www.usvap.org
